Roman Blind

Roman blinds are a popular window covering option that adds a touch of elegance and style to any room. Here are some instructions for fitting a roman blind:

Fitting a Roman blind inside of a recess:

  1. Measure the width and height of the recess to ensure you have the correct size of blind.
  2. Gather all necessary tools such as a drill, screws, level, measuring tape, pencil and wall anchors (if needed).
  3. Decide on the type of mechanism you prefer, whether it's sidewinder or cord.
  4. For sidewinder mechanism, install the bracket inside of the recess, using the level to ensure it is straight. Mark the location of the bracket on the wall with a pencil.
  5. For cord mechanism, install the bracket inside of the recess, using the level to ensure it is straight. Mark the location of the bracket on the wall with a pencil.
  6. Drill the screws into the wall, making sure to use wall anchors if necessary.
  7. Secure the bracket to the wall by screwing it into place.
  8. Install the sidewinder or cord mechanism, making sure it is level and secure.
  9. Carefully install the Roman Blind onto the bracket, making sure it is level and straight.
  10. Adjust the sidewinder or cord mechanism as needed to ensure the blind is operating smoothly.

MPORTANT: The chain loops on blind sidewinder mechanisms can be a strangulation hazard to children and vulnerable people. The blind is supplied with a plastic chain connector which will cause the chain to break away when it comes under excessive tension. If the chain does break, it can be re-joined by clipping the chain back into the connector. The chain should finish at least 60cm from the floor.

Width Measurement
- measure at the top. middle and bottom, this the smallest measurement of the three and then deduct 1 cm to allow the blind to pull up and down without snagging.

Length Measurement
- measure the recess from top to bottom and do not deduct anything, this will be the final blind length.

Width Measurement
- ideally the width of the blind is the same width as the window sill, of course this is a matter of personal preference and depends on space availability.

Length Measurement
- our recommendation is to fit the top of the blind 10cm -15cm above the window and add another 5 cm to the length below the sill.
